AutoBiography

Pauly Jay grew up in New Zealand and from a very young age had a passion for art. He would draw cartoon characters and whatever else that came to his mind. It was his way of focusing on something. He grew up in an area that had a big street art presence and found himself developing a style of his own. He would do designs on trucker caps for people in his town. When he was younger it was a different world and it was a lot more difficult to showcase his artistic style as street art was seen as trouble. Pauly wanted to be an artist but didn’t know how so he found himself studying barbering as he found that was an art in itself.
Pauly ended up moving to Brisbane, Australia in 2009 and years later ended up opening his own barbershop. It was when Pauly had got the shop running with staff he decided to start painting again. The day he picked up his first paint brush he didn’t stop painting every day and working on his style. He loves street art and abstract art so found a style that incorporated both of them. He is constantly working on new art and coming up with new ideas. Making a painting unique is the goal. He had a dream and he went for it. Ignoring people who would tell him he wasn’t ever going to make it as an artist and all other negative feedback. He knew he could make it happen and he did. He puts his heart into every piece he does and that’s what the people see and will get.
When I'm not creating art, I enjoy staying active and healthy . I also love attending live sports events, especially in new places. The energy and excitement of these events are incredible, and it helps me to stay motivated and engaged in my work.
